5 Things I'm Loving
Beyond beauty
As we welcome a new season, I wanted to share with you 5 things I’m currently loving, beyond beauty. Things that have found their way into my wardrobe the past year that have become staples, regardless of the season. They’re easily adaptable whatever the weather and just make a simple outfit feel that bit better!
1. Black Nails
Ok this one is technically beauty… but we don't talk nails much here. Black nails are a neutral to me I love them all year round. There’s something about them that just makes me feel alive. Short and square is always my preference. Whilst I get my nails professionally done with gel every 2 weeks, I do my own pedicures at home and 9 times out of 10 I’m wearing black. I’ve linked my favourite brands below that wear the best, I usually get 2-3 weeks on my toes.

2. Animal Print Loafers
Don’t underestimate the power of animal print. You can find a touch of it in both my home interior and wardrobe alike. I feel that it adds a touch of something unexpected and fun to both an outfit or a room. I live in a good comfortable loafer and surprisingly I’ve been reaching for my leopard print pair the most the past year. They go with more than you expect - I love pairing mine with a wide leg pant or jean, an all black outfit, classic blue jeans and white tee combo as well as a comfy knit loungewear co-ord. Though I am specific about the kind of leopard print because there’s a fiiine line between being chic and tack. Sadly my favourite Massimo Dutti ones are no longer available but I’ve scoured the internet and linked my top alternative options below. I think I need a zebra/snake pair next!

3. Levis 501 Crop Jeans
By far the hardest working jean in my wardrobe and the style I reach for most. So much so I have them in black, white, light denim and a mid wash. It’s quite the struggle finding the perfect fitting jean so when you do, buy them in every colour you can! Levis are a firm favourite of mine, I love the original 501s and the 501 90’s too but I find these are the most versatile. They’re slim fitting without being skinny or restrictive and sit at a nice mid point of the waist (important for someone 5”2). They also hit the ankle at the perfect spot so they work with any shoe option such as a loafer, ballet flat, trainer, ankle boot and are slim enough to wear tucked into a taller boot. If you’re in the market for a new pair, give these a chance!

4. Bucket Bag
My idea of a perfect everyday bag (for when you don’t need to carry a laptop around). My love affair with a bucket bag started last summer when I stumbled across a vintage Louis Vuitton via a late night Vestiaire scroll which I hit checkout on immediately. It was exactly what was missing from my collection. A relaxed, casual and cool every day bag. Since, I have purchased two high street additions including a plain black leather one and a tan suede. I love how effortless and spacious they are to chuck in all your essentials. The YSL Le 5 a 7 small tan suede is high on my wishlist.

5. Petite Neck Scarf
I have a few silk scarves in my wardrobe that I usually bring out in summer or pack for travel as they’re such versatile pieces. Worn as a head scarf, bikini cover up, wrap top - the options are endless. A petite neck scarf is something I want to incorporate into more of my day to day outfits this spring as I love the extra detail they bring. It’s an inexpensive way to freshen up existing pieces in your wardrobe or even add an extra light layer in this transitional season with a knit option.
